Children First

Last week I was walking up to my last two visits of the day with a 30 month old little girl and her 6 month old little brother, and found myself walking smack in the middle of a family crisis. In order to try to help alleviate a little stress, I told mom that we could reschedule our visits so she could focus on her family. Mom said she wanted to do exactly that by KEEPING our scheduled visit. She let me know that she had been working hard on establishing routines with her kiddos and did not want them to get out of rhythm. She said she wanted to make sure her children were not subjected to any undue stress. When she told me, "my children come first" I understood exactly what she meant and proceeded with the lesson as planned. It is so wonderful to witness such amazing parenting!
