Milestones

There are so many incredible milestones the first three years of life. Along with the more obvious ones of crawling, walking, and talking, there are so many interesting intellectual and social milestones as well. Yesterday, I had a fun visit with a family talking about the development of object permanence. Their seven month old would crawl excitedly toward a toy, but as soon as the toy was covered with a towel, it ceased to exist for the baby and the baby looked elsewhere for fun. As this activity is repeated in months to come, the parents will see the change as the baby begins to search for the toy even after it is hidden. We will have another milestone to celebrate.
