Smooth Transitions

When the kids turn 30 months we create a transition plan that will help them go from a Home Base setting to a Center Base Classroom setting. We work with the Parents setting individual goals that would allow a smooth transition such as working on language skills, cutting with scissors, socials skills by interacting with other children during group meetings, anything that we can do to help the parent and child with school readiness. A common goal for parents is toilet training. I have 4 kids on transition plans, I'm happy to report that this month 3 have reached their goal! By setting a routine for the kids, using key words that the children would recognize each time, reading books & handouts about toilet training, and especially with the parents consistency and hard work their goal was reached. I have no doubt that all the kids will have a smooth transition!
