Now How Many Do You Have?

It is always exciting to see parents take one of the follow-up activities and add their own twist to it. The 32 month lessons focus on intellectual development as well as memory and matching games. One of the extra activities is to lay three object in front of the child, have the child close their eyes, hide one of the objects, then have the child open their eyes and try to remember what is missing. Mom and I practiced this game with her daughter and I told her she could practice during the week. I also mentioned that she could practice variations of this game with her four year old son. The following week Mom was very excited to report that her daughter was doing well at this activity and her son was really enjoying her variation on it. In addition to the memory game, she would practice math skills with him asking him how many items he had as she added and took away objects. This hands on practice was very helpful to him. I thanked Mom for sharing this idea that I could pass on to other parents.
