What an exciting week! During a previous visit, Arnetta made a 'ziploc shapes' book. The book included pages of traced shapes on construction paper and a page which held shapes cut out from a food box. Arnetta showed Kenya, her 25 month old, the shapes, then told her the names of the shapes, and showed her how to match them with the cut out shapes. Mom enjoyed working with little Kenya with the shape book activity during our visit. Upon my return for our next visit, I asked if she and Kenya worked on the shape book. Mom said "Yes!" She then proceeded to get the book out and she asked Kenya to give the book to me. Kenya matched up each shape on every page and even picked up the shape as I said it. I was so excited for mom and Kenya. Arnetta's face lit up! Before I left, Arnetta mentioned she had made more pages for the book. Wow! She made 'number' pages with 0 - 5 for the 'ziploc' book, drew them free-hand, and cut out the numbers for matching!!
