While visiting with MaLeah and her mom, I was amazed by how much language this 30 month old little girl was producing. During my first few visit with MaLeah, she spoke very little and relied on gestures and short phrases to relay her thoughts and needs. Mom had expressed her language as a concern area. We discussed activities, such as parallel talk, self talk, and stretch talk, she could do with her daughter to help with language development. It was obvious mom had been putting these techniques to good use. MaLeah told me all about what she was doing during play and used complete sentences! Mom was so excited, but wondered if she has created a gabbing monster. She reported MaLeah talks constantly!
