Recently, I visited a mom and her 3 month old baby. I asked Mom to place the baby on her tummy. The child had a difficult time holding her head up. Mom admitted that the baby did not spend much time on the floor. I explained to mom that tummy time would make her back strong enough to roll, sit and crawl. The following week when I arrived, the baby was on her tummy. Her head was high and her arms were extended. Mom said that she had been placing the baby on her tummy several times a day. I was very proud of Mom and baby for participating in tummy time.
