This month's social was a major hit. The children were so excited to go shopping in the grocery store, bag the groceries they picked out, pay with the pretend money, use the cash register, and most of all push around the cart. It was a great learning opportunity not only for the children, but also for the parents. It showed how easy it would be to set up a dramatic play area in their own home by just saving empty food boxes, saving paper grocery bags, and cutting up some paper to use as money. Many parents commented about how they were planning on trying this at home, and that "this isn't complicated!". While the children played, the parents observed all the ways their children had learned just by pretend playing! Everyone had such a great time and I believe the activity will be recreated in homes all over town!
