This month I have been talking about the importance of crawling for a child’s development with I.D’s parents. When a child practices and masters this skill they can control balance, posture and coordination. Her parents said to me for the last 3 weeks: “We have tried but she’s not ready”. I told the parents, you said it well, she’s not ready, but she will be soon with all the practice she’s getting. So, this week during our visit we got down on the floor and Dad positioned himself behind I.D. offering support to her feet to push on and Mom in front of her with a toy. They were both so enthusiastic and encouraging! I.D. saw their excitement and started to rock back and forth and squeals, and… there she went! Her parents were laughing and saying…You did it baby girl, you did it!!! She’s ready!!!
It was such a magic moment, to be able to witness that all their effort and hard work had paid off. At our last social. I.D. was crawling everywhere exploring our social room.
