Songs, rhymes, and fingerplays build language and memory skills with children, and this is evident in the actions of 23 month old K. He is a great fan of the song "The Wheels on the Bus" and on every visit he begins rolling his arms to initiate the song. Although his family is Spanish speaking, he joins in on many of the English words. Mom is happy for the opportunity for him to begin to build a vocabulary in English. When he came to the social this week, he began singing the words, "clean up, clean up" as he entered the room, showing his memory of the song we sing in the social room every week.
