Many parents don't know what milestones to look for at different ages, and base their expectations on comparisons to another child of the same age. Nine month old J. has a cousin who is just one week older. J.'s cousin began walking at the very early age of nine months. J. and his Mom joined the program this month and one of Mom's first questions was whether she should be concerned that J. was not also walking. Mom was very reassured to know that J.'s activities of crawling, pulling to a stand, and tentatively cruising were very developmentally appropriate. She appreciated the activities and information in the lessons that gave her tips to keep encouraging J. to cruise as well as stoop and recover toys. J. is happily cruising along down the pathway to walking.
