Learning Limits

A frequent topic during our home visits is discipline. This is an issue for every parent. One mom has been working hard on setting consistent limits with her 2 year old son. On my first visit, J. wanted to turn the t.v. on in the middle of our time together to show us his favorite movie. Mom explained to J. that now was not t.v. time and reminded J. during the week that the t.v. wouldn't be on during the visit. When I walked in the door for the next visit, J. looked at mom, looked at me, and then walked over and turned off the t.v. On every visit since, J. has immediately turned off the t.v. as soon as I walk in the door. He can concentrate on the fun activities we do and has learned about respect as well.
