Socials...Here We Come!

EM is a 9 mo. old baby enrolled in our program since he was 2 mo. old. EM's Mother is always excited and appreciative for each week's home visit, and has expressed the desire and importance of also attending the HB socials offered at our school site each week. The road block to attending our socials for this family, was the lack of transportation, as the family had no car. In our conversations during home visits, Mom expressed to me that a key goal for her personally was to save money each week in hopes of buying a car, so she and EM could attend the HB socials. On a recent home visit this month, Mom was so excited to show me the family's "new car"!!! The goal was accomplished, and Mom was so very proud! Since this visit, EM and Mom have come to each and every social we have offered. Both Mom and baby have enjoyed coming to socials since, and Mom has shared with me how she now feels a sense of belonging and a being a part of the Union school community! I celebrate with this family, and now look forward to having them both at our socials.
