Many Things Are Missing From This Picture!

Older two years olds are developing the intellectual skill of identifying a whole, from seeing its parts. Mom, 32 month old LE and I, were preparing to complete the problem solving section of the Ages and Stages Questionnaire. One of the activities asks that the child look at a picture, of a character who is missing several body parts. After reviewing the picture, the child is asked what it is. As I was preparing to give Mom and LE the instructions, LE pointed to the picture and asked, "Where is his leg?" He continued to ask about the other missing body parts. LE also asked what happened to the man. Mom helped LE to draw the missing eye, arm and leg!
