M was busy playing with the variety of blocks that I had carried to the home. I asked Mom to observe the different ways that 30 month old M was experimenting with the blocks. We discussed how he was investigating the properties of straight lines, and making turns and angles in his line of blocks. Mom was amazed to learn that the lining up of blocks was an important pre-reading skill. M sorted the blocks by size and shape. He demonstrated another important intellectual development skill as he used the blocks to represent other things. M straddled his three wheeler while holding two large square blocks, he looked at his Mom and me, and said" Buckle My Seat Belt"!
