A new Mom in the program was asked to sign the parent attendance sheet. Mom informed me that she can't write in cursive to sign the form. She asked if I could show her how to sign her name. She also informed me that she did not get to attend school and never learned to read. The P.E. wrote out her name in cursive and gave the Mom some practice paper. The next week, Mom proudly showed her "homework" to the P.E. Next week we'll work on the last name and then put it all together. Soon Mom will feel more confident and that makes for a more confident teacher for her child.
