Special Day for Me! :-)

One of the many wonderful things about our program is that as a Parent Educator I get to see children reach developmental milestones. It never gets old hearing from a parent that a child has cut a first tooth, said a first word, or taken a first step. And, then those special occasions where I actually get to experience it with the family as it happens is amazing! At a recent home visit I was to be so fortunate, however this time it was even more meaningful to me. As I sat on the floor on our "magic carpet" and begin our lesson, my little friend walked up to me, handed me a book and said, "Here Carmen!" I was so happy that I could have cried for it was the first time the child had said my name and identified me! The child's mom looked at me in surprise, then we both clapped and laughed. This event was so very special to me because I have been with this family since before my little friend could talk(almost a year now). I will never forget this special day in my career! CS
