Dancin' to the Music
We encourage parents to attend home visits and socializations by giving incentives called "Baby Bucks". When a certain number of points have been earned, families can trade in points for a reward bag filled with themed items. Alejandro's mother chose "musical melodies" as her reward for being dedicated to the program. The bag contained a childrens' CD of favorite songs in Spanish and a musical instrument for Alejandro to enjoy. At the end of our home visits each week we have always included songs and rhymes as part of the lesson but now, Alejandro insists on playing "his" music and singing and dancing, jumping and laughing, all over the room. It's fun to be able to share these moments with families. MJ
