Recently during a visit with a 31 month old little boy, I had finished reading the child a story and was placing the book in my bag. The boy watched me pack the book away and then began singing, "Adios, Adios, goodbye friends..."and attempted to pick up my bags and walk to the door. This little boy was definitely well versed in the routines of our visits and knew that after our book sharing time, we normally sing the goodbye song. I quickly packed up the remaining of my items and joined him in the goodbye song. He wasn't exactly pushing me out the door, but he knew our time together was coming to a close. It is so great to witness little ones learning about routines.
