Where's your Dad?

B. is an adorable young man whose mother has learned the value of parallel talk. She claims that using it, as well as self talk has almost worked to well. After lots of practice and successes with talking to B. about everything, he began repeating everything back to her. She is careful to use correct grammar, and B. has an incredible vocabulary. He also uses many grown up phrases that tickle his parents and myself to death. He now uses the phrase "it cannot be!" in correct contexts, and tells his mother that "it looks like rain today". He also refers to his parents as he hears them refer to each other. He calls is mother by her full name, and his father "your dad". He says things like "Wheres your dad", "Can your dad take me outside?", and "Your dad got me this chocolate today!". Mom has tried to explain, but each time she refers to her husband as "your dad" to B, his manner of speaking is again reinforced. It is so impressive, and cute, that he has such a formal manner of speaking.
