Homemade Toys

In our electronic and gadget oriented culture, the emphasis our program puts on homemade toys brings a breath of fresh air to many parents. They are glad to know that their children can learn so much from the items they have around the house. My favorite homemade activity is "Clothespins in a Bottle." This lesson we do with 13-month-old children has many benefits. Parents are excited to see the developing eye-hand coordination of their children and observe the value of repetition as children become more adept at getting the clothespin into an empty milk or juice jug. They are also amazed to see the long attention span their children have with this simple activity made from household items.
