A strong foundation

Last night during the social we had Mrs. Cathy who came from the downtown library to have a story time with our kids. As I translated for the kids and their families I noticed how April, who is 19 months, was paying close attention to the stories, she would clap and interact with the other children. As soon as we started to sing songs, little April stood up and was singing and dancing to the music. I was so happy to see that she would recognize the songs that week after week we sing together. After story time was over each family was given 3 books. I was talking to another family when April came and sat on my lap so I could read her the book. It is so wonderful that we have the opportunity every week to teach our kids and parents the importance of early literacy. Together we are setting a strong foundation. Y.S
