The ability for toddlers to solve problems is very important for being successful in life and school. RR is a very curious 16 month old, who gets into everything in the house. I told Mom to think of RR's "getting into everything", as her way of figuring out how things work. Mom and I continued to observe RR, as she explored the room, with much energy. RR used her body and her mind to reach her goal, which was the trash can. Mom promptly distracted her and re-directed her to another activity.
