Birthday Celebrations

When a child in the program has a birthday I try my best to to make sure that it is special. Recently, I have had a lot of kiddos turning another year older. When a child turns one, I typically just bring a mylar balloon, party hats, and a pretend felt cake that they can pull the decorations off of and attach them back. When they turn two, I try to bring mini cupcakes with candles (with parents permission of course), a mylar balloon, party hats and party blowers. Then when they turn three, I (try to) bring a miniature birthday cake with candles, and of course the balloon, party hats, and party blowers. I always want to make the cake or cupcakes homemade myself, but still have not done so, but that would make it a bit more personal. The children are always excited about the balloon the most it seems, but often the parents are the most excited to celebrate a big milestone together! It is very memorable and I really enjoy these "birthday parties".
