One of my favorite handouts is one we give at 34 months on pretending. It gives ideas of household items you can use to create a zoo, grocery store, fire station, etc. I tell the families of the special memories I have of playing grocery store with my siblings with empty cereal boxes and other items that my Mom would save for us. One of the activities we do for the month is to create a play set out of a shoe box. The children enjoy the process of creating and decorating the items. Children have such huge imaginations at this age and it is fun to hear on the following visits about the restaurants, doctor's offices, and other places the children have been inventing with their parents.
