I Will Survive!

For parents of a premature baby, the joy and excitement that marks the homecoming of most newborns is tinged with apprehension and uncertainty. ZM was born at 24 weeks gestation. ZM has endured chronic medical problems that involved her lungs, brain and affected her growth. Her parents had the support of professionals, in the home, which included Early Head Start Home-Based . ZM's parents have focused on the positive aspect of her development. Research has shown that the home environment is the single most important factor, in the development of premature infants. ZM is now 35 months of age, and will be transitioning into The Union Public Schools Special Services Program in August. She continues to play "catch up", but she has survived!
