On my last visit at K.'s house, I was showing Mom the social postcard and reminding her of the next social. K., who is 30 months old, pointed at the card and said, "That's my school." Mom and I looked at the card and realized that K. was pointing to the Union and CAP logos printed on the card. These logos are on the side of the Rosa Parks Early Childhood Education Center where K. attends socials. I explained to Mom that one of his pre-reading skills is recognizing environmental print. We were so impressed with his growing memory. It also made me happy to know that he considers the building where he comes to socials as his first school.
